Seattle is a city in Washington State, in the American Pacific Northwest region. The city, also called the Emerald City, is located on the Puget Sound and is surrounded by water, evergreen forests, mountains, and thousands of acres of parkland. Seattle is also home to technology giants Microsoft and Amazon, coffee leader Starbucks, and the origin of grunge music. Local sports teams include the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Supersonics, Seattle Mariners, and the University of Washington Huskies. The city’s futuristic Space Needle is Seattle’s most iconic landmark, from the 1962 World Fair.
This city has great restaurants, things to do, and places to see. Some of the most famous areas in Seattle include the Ballard District, Pioneer Square, Belltown Neighborhood, and Puget Sound.
June is a beautiful time of year to visit Seattle. The weather will be moderate with average highs of 24°C (75°F) and lows of 11°C (50°F). Rain is likely so it is important to bring a jacket. Most days will be cloudy or overcast at one point or another.
Seattle, Washington’s major airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, or “SeaTac” for short. To get to the conference center from the airport, you have a few options. If you want to take a car, it is a 20-minute to 25-minute drive. From the airport, you will go northbound on the 5 Freeway, WA-509 toll road, or Highway 99. If you are keen on taking public transportation from the airport to the conference venue, The route options are Tram 1-Line (Northgate), Tram 1-Line (Northgate) to Bus 13 (Seattle Pacific University Seattle Center W), or Bus 560 (560E BELLEVUE via SEA-TAC AIRPORT) to Bus 102 (Downtown Seattle). Please note that the public transportation routes require walking and may take up to an hour and a half one way. Another airport option in Seattle is the King County International Airport. This is a smaller airport that serves small commercial flights, cargo carriers, and more. If you fly into this airport, you also have driving and public transportation options to get to the venue. To reach the venue by car, it is a 20-minute drive going northbound on the 5 Freeway or Highway 99. When using public transportation, your options are Bus 124 (Downtown Seattle Georgetown) to Bus 24 (West Magnolia), Bus 60 (Broadway First Hill) to Bus 36 (Downtown Seattle), Bus 60 (Broadway First Hill) to Bus 7 (Downtown Seattle Via Rainier Ave S), or Bus 107 (Beacon Hill Station Rainier Beach Station) to Tram 1-Line (Northgate). Again by using public transportation, please be aware that the routes require walking and may take over an hour and a half one way.
